GSG Magazine for Contemporary Art and Social Questions of the From the Citizens to Their City Initiative, will be presented on June 12, at 19:00 in Križanićeva 6a. The magazine will be issued twice a year, in spring and autumn. The first issue, dedicated to queer and feminist topics, was created from the contributions of the organizers of the Smoqua festival — the first regional queer and feminist festival held in Rijeka*. To continue the dialogue in-between the festival preparations we invited Lori, Pariter and the Center for Women’s studies to reflect on queer and feminism from their respective fields and interests.
In the fourth edition of Knowledge Exchange, From the Citizens to Their City will host curator Jelena Pašić and artist Matija Kralj. Together they will present the Cultural Elevator, the project that took place in a residential building of Zagreb’s neighborhood Segečica, whose aim was to introduce contents of art and contents about art into the context of everyday life.
The guest in public discussion Memory in Literature – A personal Approach, which will be held in Knowledge Exchange 3, is Ahmed Burić, a distinguished poet and novelist, an important author from our region. The discussion will be moderated by Željka Horvat Čeč, and apart from this talk about memories and the work of Ahmed Burić, we will present Burić’s novel that deals with the subject of memory, Tebi šega što se zovem Donald?.
In the framework of Smoqua, the first regional festival of queer and feminist culture in Rijeka, organized by LORI in collaboration with different associations, cultural institutions and prominent people from local and regional queer and feminist culture, From the Citizens to Their City will be hosting three events.
