On 15 and 16 October, come to the Palach Youth Cultural Centre (OKC Palach) in Rijeka to the fourth edition of the Smoqua International Festival of Queer and Feminist Culture. The festival is the result of joint efforts of the civil society organizations LORI and Pariter and the Centre for Women’s Studies at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Rijeka and artistic organisation From the Citizens to their City.

Walk of Pawns by Tools for Action in collaboration with the citizens of Rijeka
On Saturday 27th June, an artistic performance called Walk of Pawns, which aimed to comment on the Walk for Life march was stopped by the police. Eight persons dressed in gigantic inflatable pawns in Walk for Life colours did not manage to join the WFL in order to rehearse their legal right to peacefully express opposing views and advocate for a free life, stand for vulnerable members of society, as well as human and women’s rights and the autonomy of the female body.
Hands, Sheets, Broom: Statistical Yearbook

On 12 and 13 December, on a stall in Jadran Square in Rijeka, Duda will present passers-by with Rijeka tourism in figures, using the Korzo area as a background for data visualisation. Statistical Yearbook will tell us if tourism in Rijeka is on the rise, which services are used to advertise private accommodation and what proportion of advertising relies on Airbnb.

On Thursday 13 June at 19:00 there will be a presentation of the Slovenian artist Maja Hodošček in a dialogue with the art historian Irena Borić. Along with the talk and video screening in the From the Citizens to Their City’s premises in Križanićeva 6a, there will also be the promotion of the Second Issue of the GSG Magazine for Contemporary Art and Social Issues of From the Citizens to Their City Initiative that focuses on artistic and non-artistic practices aimed at developing social cohesion and strengthening disadvantaged communities.
